What would be the best cpu ((list top 3)top,price/perf,budget) for Kerbal space program, im running an 8th gen i3 and the multiplayer mod is cary demanding for cpu. Im not sure how well it scales across cores..

I play ksp on pc and am currently running an 8th gen i3 and the multiplayer mod (dark multiplayer) is very demanding as the hundreds of crafts really pile up.  I am unsure as to how well the game scales across cores but if I'm playing online I sometimes share my screen with discord.  I'm not a millionaire so I'm not looking at thread ripper or anything like that.

The game recommends an Intel i5 or AMD equivalent, so you're looking at the 2600X or 2700X as compared to the i5-8600k, but you need to be aware that it's a significant investment (new motherboard, RAM, and CPU), approaching $500, to play an insignificant game, so your best choice, cost wise, would be to buy a new Intel CPU for your socket.

It may be insignificant to some but 900 hrs in and I still love it.
