I built my new PC with Ryzen 9 7900 about half a year ago. Generally happy, but all this time I could not use my USB audio interface because of continuous random crackling.
Just this evening I installed an PCIE USB extension card, connected the USB audio interface to it, >>> and the crackling is completely gone <<<
Although I now have a workaround, apparently there is an issue with the onboard (AMD) USB, and I would really like this resolved. I'd like to have properly working USB using the onboard USB interfaces, not having to use additional hardware.
System details:
* Processor: Ryzen 9 7900, revision RPL-B2
* Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2,
* Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
* OS: MS Windows 11 Home, up to date
* Latest BIOS version for M/B (F32d), latest AGESA version (1.2.0.2a)
The audio interface is a Behringer UMC202HD (USB 2.0 I/F). This unit always worked with no problems on my old PC (Core I7-4770) and I tested its proper operation on various other PC's. And it now turns out it also works on this system, when connected via the PCIE USB card which is based on VIA VL805.
More observations:
Another indication that the problem is in the AMD hardware/firmware, not in the OS or Windows drivers, is that audio crackling never occurred on the motherboard built-in audio. Also, LatencyMon indicated all DPC latencies well under 1 ms, so PC suitable for audio applications.
