I bought my CPU cooler around a year and a half ago and am thinking it may be time to re-paste. I am not running into thermal issues but I also don't want the Arctic Silver 5 to harden and make it difficult to remove the cooler without the CPU coming with it. Should I re-paste or just wait until I buy a new CPU or cooler? My thermals even at the height of the recent heat wave only got to 67C while gaming and watching YouTube in 29C ambient.

It'll be fine. No need to repaste unless your temps start to look funny. Also, if you know you're going to remove your CPU, you should always warm up the CPU first then shutdown and remove the cooler. Let the paste get warm. I Just installed a new CPU and I run my PC 24/7. When I went to remove the heatsink, I didn't even need to apply force. Just twist then pull.

Thanks. I just wasn't sure if it would matter. I used to re-apply every 6 months but I kept putting it off and it has been quite a while. I'll let it ride until I need the cooler for another system. I am hoping to get the new Ryzen chips for the AM5 socket once they launch.
