• Hi!

I'm runing a AMD R9  5950X on a high-end B550 motherboard and a 1500W PSU. I cannot get Ryzen Master to successfully optimise my processor using the curve optimiser for both All-Core and Per-Core. My system crashes for both All-Core and Per-Core within the first 5 minutes of running the optimizers.

I've come across a thread on the internet that suggests restoring the system to the point just before Ryzen Master was installed. The problem has existed even when i owned a 850W PSU before switching a 1500W PSU. Ive reinstalled Windows 11 but the problem still persists.

Has anyone faced a similar problem and.found a solution?

is your bios up to date? Do you have issues if you optimize the curve from bios? When I had a 5950X, I also had problems with Ryzen master. I uninstalled it and did it from bios without issue.

How did you use the bios to optimise the curve?

I'm on the latest bios but there is no specific option to run the CO. I can only enable/autmate Curve Optimizer or select Advance . I can only set the values (-ve/+ve) under All-cores or Per-CO after setting Curve Optimizer to Advace.

Boards BIOS should be somewhat similar today and the process quite the same across all Ryzens. There should be also a search feature that can help you out. Just type Curve Optmizer.

Not all high-end b550 motherboards have a search function integrated in its BIOS.

Is there a solution to this problem? Like increasing the thermal limit of the CPU?

That is somewhat strange I must say, even my old RoG B450E had a search option and my brothers RoG B550 A which falls more on the mid end has a search option too.

Not to mention that the vast majority of B450&B550 have curve optimizer available as long as the Ryzen is zen 3.

What is your board vendor and model? If you push a 5950X on a board with not enough VRMs, there is a possibility for crashes.

My board is a Asrock B550 Taichi. It has a beefy 16 phase VRM design. That's why i bought it iin the first place.

I have updated the BIOS to the latest version. Checked inside the BIOS just now. No Search function or an EZ mode for that matter.

Using the Auto function (Start Optimizing button) in Ryzen Master is iffy at best. Do a search you'll find lots of posts from users here complaining about results. Even if they get it to complete it doesn't always apply the settings correctly.

My recommendation is go into BIOS and manually set Curve Optimizer yourself. Start with -5 all-core and work down from there, use a multi-core load like Cinebench to test. A 5950X will probably get a max of -10 to -15 all-core stable. If you want to take the time to tweak each core in per-core mode they'll all likely fall somewhere between -5 and -20.

Thanks for replying. I can get Ryzen Master to automatically  optimise per-core without any crashes if I set the processor thermal limit in the bios  under Advanced\AMD Overclocking\Precision Thermal Throttle Limit to 45c. The default value for this limit is 95c even though Ryzen Master reports 90c . The problem is that  my system becomes terribly slow. 

Another thing that got my attention, though unrelated to this topic, is that Ryzen Master will disable PROCHOT under settings only if I set the overclocking mode to manual in all the profiles. But  Ryzen Master displaying another notification that in order Curve Optimiser to run,  all profiles should be set to any mode other than Manual. Hope this helps.

Setting a thermal limit of 45°C would essentially prevent the CPU from running any load at all. Not only is that counterproductive to what the auto optimization is trying to do, it also severely hampers normal operation.

The auto optimize stress tests the CPU while it reduces the voltage curve. It will become unstable during this process, it's supposed to auto recover, even from a restart, then continue the optimization. It doesn't work.

Like I said, do it manually.
