I built a PC with Windows 11 in preparation for the coming Windows 10 obsolete in 2025. The plan is to use non-OC settings over OC platform for a reliable productive engineering work for the next 7 or 10 years. That works for me in current Windows 10 system.
With clean Win11 installation, I boot Win11 Pro, login, let it sit there idle. In 2 - 12 hrs, the system crashed and restart to login screen. Event Viewer shows Power-Event 41. My test setup is such generic and low-speed (see below). Something about power management is not right. Immediately I suspected motherboard. So, ASRock sent me another motherboard. However the idle-crash issue persists. Any good suggestion?
The system passed all heavy-lifting and burn-in tests on memory, processor, and storage etc.. The issue only happens when it's doing nothing after awhile. Another observation is CPU always runs over 4.2 GHz at near 0% utilization. Why would it need so much power at idle?
