Ryzen 5 7600x and Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36, Overclocking Gaming Memory

Hello,

Apologies if this has been posted already or asked.

I was wondering if I moved down to a Ryzen 5 7600x, would it cause issues with the RAM I have selected for my new mobo?

For those who need to know, it's a MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi Mobo so it has to be AM5.

The RAM is: Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36 Overclocking Gaming Memory.

Now I know it's compatible with 7000 series CPUs which is fine but the question is, am I better waiting to get a Ryzen 7 7700x or would the 5 7600x be adequate enough for mid-high end gaming with no lag spikes?

I hope this has all made sense.

Thanks,

The entire 7000 desktop processor series (Raphael) uses the same IO die memory controller. The rated memory speed is DDR5-5200 however 6000 is generally recommended.

As to whether a 7600X or 7700X is "adequate" there won't be much performance difference. What graphics card are you pairing with this system?

Hey,

Currently I'm using a Sapphire Nitro 470 (Radeon RX 470) but will be looking into upgrading that sometime in 2025.

I have eyes set on a Ryzen 7 7000 series but if I can pull it off with a Ryzen 5 7000 series then I will do that.

Just an honest recommendation of what CPU would be better for me at this moment in time would be enough for me to be happy.

Sorry, I'm new to the building aspect of PC's but proud of what I've done so far.

Thanks,

You would need to have a high-end GPU running at 1080p resolution to see any significant performance difference between a 7600X and 7700X in gaming FPS.

Certainly with a RX 470 or any modern mid-range GPU you'll be fine with the 7600X. If gaming is your primary use you should look at the 7600X3D before spending more on a 7700X.
