Hello. I built my PC 4yrs ago using a Ryzen 9 3950 processor. A recent game came out and was using a "can I run it" and it said "ok for min but not recommended" which was the 5600
I use passmark to check for highest rated CPU when I build my PCs and as of today the 3950 still gives a higher score.
Then I did an online search using the forum thread title here as my search. For the most part 3950 is the better choice but it did mention base clock speed.
3.5 vs 3.7Ghz. Now Im wondering is .2Ghz all that important. The search also said use Ryzen 5 for Gaming but Ryzen 9 for everything else.
I plan on building a new PC this yr in 2025, I am a huge PC Gamer so should i start looking at Clock Speeds rather than everything else?
5600 has 6 cores 12 Threads
3950 has 16 cores 32 threads
Again I use passmark as my benchmark score plus to me a 16core processor is better than a 6 core processor.
Yes i am aware my CPU can be overclocked but I choose not to. Again im merely wondering if .2Ghz means a lot or not LOL. I will say my fps on said game is like 45-50, occasionally dipping to 30fps. But im also running a 4kMonitor and GeForce 3080 Vid Card for the game
