I am planning on setting up a new build using a B550M motherboard and a Ryzen 5 5800x. I am going to buy 1 component at a time. I want to buy a B550m mobo and eventually the rest of the parts. In the meantime can I use my current proc Ryzen 5 3400G with Radeon Vega Graphics on the B550m while I transition to better components.
No, B550 is not compatible with the 3xxxG series.
You cannot go by just the chipset. The first answer you received is incorrect.
You need to look up the CPU support list of the specific motherboard you have or are considering a purchase of.
The answer is correct, B550 boards do not support the Ryzen 3000-G series APU's.
Better go tell ASUS that.
**bleep**, that's the first Ive ever seen a B550 motherboard able to support those cpu's!
Guess i should add this link https://www.amd.com/en/chipsets/b550
AMD needs to update their 'Notes' then, i looked at half doz. mobo models (obviously missed your ref.) none support.
Here's one for ya, so who covers warranty, ASUS (and/or other mobo who provide out of official spec.) ?
