Hello friends, I recently upgraded to ryzen 5 3600, but I am facing an issue of high temps.
It is around 50 degree at idle with ambient temperature being not being more than 20 and while playing games like fifa 19 it reaches upto 77 degree. While rendering using handbrake it reaches upto 80 degree and also running a chess engine (stockfish) it reaches 80 degree. Are these temps normal? Will it harm the processor in long run (5yrs). What is the solution for this problem?
I have already got my bios updated and temps are measured using Ryzen Master
My specs
Ryzen 3600
AS Rock B450M Pro 4
Gigabyte RX 570 4GB
Corsair 8x2 GB RAM 3000MHz
Cabinet:- Zebronics Mars
Please tell me if should I add cabinet fans (since I am using only the front fan and 4 slots are available) and should I change my cpu cooler?
Do you use stock cooler? I have a 120mm dual fan cooler and in heavy workloads my CPU hits 70C, so if its stock cooler temps then its ok
It is the stock cooler temp, but I havent used it for cpu intensive work? btw what are your idle temps
my cpu idles at 40-45C, spikes at 55C, I guess AMD confuses everyone with new Tjunction sensors & 7nm density having trouble to dissipate heat (actually there is little power usage but because the material area is so small, it's temperature gets high
you may try repaste it also, little drops on the chiplet areas as the cpu's and IO die
If the processor idles at a high temperature: disable all 3 bios options for Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO). Set Windows Power Plan (not AMD's one) for "Balanced".
Wraith Stealth is a bad cooler. Try the Cooler Master 212 evo or the smaller Antec a40 pro. Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut is a very good paste.
