I would just like to ask has anyone on here used the Noctua NH-U12 Redux on a Ryzen 7 5800x, As I aware this chip gets hot under load.
https://noctua.at/en/nh-u12s-redux
And how has it coped with with overclocking .to 4..0 to 4.7 under load.
And what are the temps when gaming on AAA games.
I don't intend to overclock the CPU anyway as it's plenty powerful enough for my needs.
I have actually ordered with the 2nd fan kit both coming to €72 from Amazon
would be grateful for some feedback from users with experience of using it. Thanks
This is Noctua Compatibility ratings for your Noctua CPU Cooler for the 5800X Processor:
The 5800X does have a rather high TDP rating of 105 Watts so it was a good idea purchasing a second CPU Cooler fan to install in a Push-Pull Configuration. It should be able to keep your processors Maximum Operating Temperature below 90c.
Thanks for this that looks pretty good so it does allow some overclocking. If the 5800x is set to turbo boost in the bios setting does it overclock automatically between 3.7 to 4.7 depending on the app load like gaming on AAA games?
If you are talking about PBO (Precision Boost) in BIOS setting, then yes it automatically over clocks the processor within its safety range. It boosts the processor within a safe speed range that would be higher than if it is disabled.
I would put it on "Auto" so that option is only used when it is needed and not enabled all the time.
But with PBO the processor will generate more heat due to the higher frequency spikes or boosts.
Once you install the new Noctua then you can see if your processor reaches anywhere close to 90c with PBO on "Auto". In my opinion it shouldn't if you have good air circulation inside your PC case.
Its going in this case it has 3 rgb fans at the front (blowing cool air in) 1 at the back blowing hot ait out ,and 1 at the top also blowing hot air out. I will get 2 new fans for the top. So altogether I will have 8 fans running. Remember I live in Portugal with very long hot summers lasting well into October average temps in the 30-40s.
