New Ryzen 7 5800x running at 90 degrees

Hey all, I recently upgraded from an intel processor and motherboard to a Ryzen 5800x with a Asrock B550 motherboard. Since upgrading I have noticed my cpu has been running hot. I am newer to pc building so these temps scare me. My cpu boots at 45-60c and when load up a game the temperature jumps to 90c sometimes hitting 91c. This temperature stays while I am in game. I have tried to reapply thermal paste but it changed nothing. The cooler that I have on my processor is the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!

NaashVegas, how many Watts is the cooler rated for? Please post SSs of Ryzen Master (RM) both Basic and Advanced views running Cinebench R23. I would like to see only RM SSs. Please list all your system components. Thanks and enjoy, John.

Thanks, NaashVegas. All looks fine except for the temperatures. Again I suspect the cooler is not mounted correctly. Please make sure it is tight and you removed the protective plastic sheet on the cold plate. What is your ambient temperature?

Is there anything I can do to help lower the temp? I have tried to reinstall the cooler and it didn't help. Will my cpu running at this temp hurt it?

NaashVegas, please tell me your ambient temperature. I tighten my cooler screws until the springs bind. I suggest you open a support request with cooler vendor and ask them. Make sure all the fans in your case are running especially for the cooler. Try removing the sides of your case. Good luck, John.

NaashVegas, I failed to answer your question about running at 90C. Please open a support request with AMD here. Unfortunately they're in maintenance mode for a while. I think it would be OK but leaves no room for boost and I do not count on AMD policy. It could help a lot to get a stronger cooler. Enjoy, John.

The cooler is capable of cooling up to 200W+ according to their website.   The pictures i have attached are of the temps prior to me running cinebench and then the temps as i am running cinebench.Screenshot (4).pngScreenshot (5).pngScreenshot (6).pngScreenshot (8).png

Two questions:

1. You know the max speed of the fans of your cpu cooler?

2. If yes, when in cinebench, check the fan speed in HWIMFO when running the test and see if the speed is at the max in the test. Maybe the speed of fans are limited in bios with silent mode or other manual config.
