I am looking to expand from 6 SATA drives to 12-16. Running Bios in AMD Raid with RaidXpert 2. Looking to see if LSi SATA/SAS PCIE Expansion cards will work with AMD Ryzen Motherboards and Processors with X370 Above Platform.
Currently have a Ryzen 3700X and Asrock X370 Gaming Motherboard 48GB Ram and a RTX 2080.
haywoodspartan, if you want to include the new drives from the LSI card into the AMD RAID, I would suggest the chances are about as close to absolute ZERO as possible. It is possible that you could have a separate RAID on the LSI card. Please contact AMD Online Support for an AMD response. Thanks and enjoy, John.
What I am looking for is Board Compatibility Could Care less about RaidXpert2 Support Just wondering is the Motherboard with even detect the card at all
controllers cards are generally recognized by the operating system
low cost 4-port cards are common, 8-port ones usually have miniSAS so a cable splitter is needed etc
I have used them all at one time or another
some SATA cards with a ROM on them can even be used to boot a machine
LSI has 16-port controllers so PCIe expanders are not needed,
Usually the motherboard RAID is not used when a host bus adapter is in use
An M.2 SSD is fine for the server OS
