I'm idling at 80-85c on my Ryzen 9 3900X

I'm running a Ryzen 9 with a Wraith Prism cooler on an MSI B450 Gaming Plus with up-to-date BIOS, 16GB DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1080.

I've checked the thermal paste, cleaned it off and reapplied it twice, but the thermals aren't changing. I've also removed my side panel and it isn't changing, so it isn't air flow.

Here is the info Ryzen Master is giving me:

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Your RM screenshot of your 3900x looks like its under load and not idle and the temps looks to be in line with what you would usually get when using the stock prism cooler on a 3900x under load.

For example this is what my 3900x looks like at idle with PBO disabled with most of its cores going to sleep mode :

hello joeparlock,

have you check CPU load when your are idle ?

I see your frequency to high for an idle mode with a CPU load < 5%.

Take a look.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the help, but I found the problem. Turns out I had a cryptomining virus on my PC that I hadn't noticed.

Thanks!
