AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6320 cooling

Hi,

Can please someone say me if a passive cooling is enough for AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6320 ?

It seems that it is not a lot of active cooling systems on the market for this CPU.

Thanks, best regards,

Armel

That's a 115w processor...There was the Thermaltake CLS0016, but you're talking about a socket that's a decade old and about as obsolete as they come, so actually finding a cooler is a problem.

Newegg has a few G34 Socket CPU Coolers: Socket G34, CPU Fans & Heatsinks, Fans & PC Cooling, Components - Newegg.com

Found this YouTube video that shows how to adapt a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO to a G34 Socket: Modify Hyper 212 EVO to work with Socket G34 - YouTube

Nice, OK,

Does that mean that a passive cooling is OK in my case (Opteron(tm) Processor 6320) ?

Not really familiar with that AMD CPU but black_zion‌ probably might be able to answer your question.

You're not going to have a totally passive system with a 115w processor, though if your case airflow is good enough you can use a passive heatsink, if you can find one.
