AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+

I'm planning to rebuild an old system unit which has an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ processor and an EMAXX EMX-AMD690HD motherboard. The motherboard has 4 RAM slots. Is the processor compatible with 16GB of RAM? I'm planning to buy 4 sticks of 4GB RAM.

That is a antique Motherboard that isn't made anymore.

Did find Emaxx Support for you if you want to make contact with them. The Emaxx site doesn't even have a Manual for your Motherboard: https://www.emaxxtech.com/manual/

Here is the Emaxx Support Contact link: https://www.emaxxtech.com/contact-us/

Their site never mentioned capacity:

At the time, anything larger than 2GB per DIMM was pretty much unheard of, so I doubt they even tested any 4GB DIMMs.

Might work, might not.  I don't think you'll get a definitive answer without just trying it.

I actually found a 4gb DDR2 PC2-6400 800mhz RAM stick for sale online. My next question is, the original RAM installed is a 2gb DDR2 PC2-5300 667mhz. Will a DDR2 PC2-6400 800mhz work or should I just stick to a DDR2 PC2-5300 667mhz?

Like I said, you're not going to find out whether or not it works other than by trying.  The information simply isn't out there.
