I'm updating my system to a H11DSI-NT, 256gb RAM ECC, and bought two 7551p's.

I was very excited until I'd realised I'd made a (massive rookie error. The epyc CPU's ending with a 'P' aren't made for a duel-socket setup.

My ideal scenario is that they work, but am afraid after reading that I might brick one or both CPU's.

I've read it's possible to use a single 'P' CPU in a dual socket motherboard so I know I could upgrade to a compatible pair later down the line

Does anyone know what happens if I put both 'P' CPU's in the motherboard?

Does anyone have any suggestions for my particular predicament?

Apologies for the late reply! Thanks ever so much for clarifying on the above. The CPU's are due to arrive today so I shall test them both individually in the first socket. I know certain motherboard features won't work unless the 2nd socket is populated, but I should be ok without them for the time being. 

I'm currently contending with another issue plaguing the 2nd hand EPYC market.....the dreaded vendor lock the seller claims they're tested and working, but doesn't know what system they were tested in so I actually have zero clue if they'll work in my Super micro motherboard. I shall try and return them if one or both are vendor locked.
