A good mid-range processor?

Hey all,

Two issues:

1) What is a good website that lists comprehensively all AMD processors with pertinent information for understanding the scheme of each processor? There are a few sites which list all of Intel's CPUs and they're quite easy to follow. But for the life of me I can't make heads or tails with what I've found so far for AMD. This makes it difficult to figure out what I can purchase that will work for my needs.

2) Speaking of my needs: I'm upgrading a six-year old system, so I already have the case. I need a decent AMD mobo and a mid-level CPU for it. I'll only be adding an SSD, a dedicated graphics card and memory. I won't be overclocking or doing anything than building the basics.

The system will be namely for post-processing images for my photography hobby—I use Photoshop Elements (a scaled-down version of Photoshop), and I'll also be doing music composition using a few different pieces of software for music notation for tweaking (probably be using Reaper). I won't, be doing any video editing, streaming or anything like that, so the system that I will be building doesn't require much; however, if I want to play a game, I want some reasonable horsepower there.

I'm up for a CPU that has on-board graphics but only if I can add a discrete graphics card (disabling the on-board when necessary). But otherwise, I just don't know how to figure out what would be a good processor for my needs. Any ideas?

UPDATE

I've gone with the Ryzen 5 2600. Got it for $165.00, so I feel pretty good about that. Gotta get a mobo now.

Thanks much.
