Hello,
I joined AMD for the first time with a 7800x3D and I am very happy with it in terms of performance. I am quite new to overclocking too when it comes to voltages and what I should have in idle vs load and all that.
I took some time to look up AMD and figured out slightly how PBO works along with Curve Optimizer and LLC.
I set the Curve Optimizer to -30 on All Cores (probably can do more but not sure if needed) and LLC to Extreme which is the one right under the flat line on the scaling after watching a few Youtube Guides.
Now, I am not sure if everything is set properly because it feels like in idle it runs quite hot and I am not sure what I should look at to make sure it runs properly besides the temperature which in a Cinebench test won't go above 85-86C. While Gaming it never reached 70C, it sits around 55-69, tested just a few games like Enshrouded, DayZ, GTA 5 and Valorant/CS2.
Sometimes I find myself just browsing the internet, opening up Fan Control as it just happened or watching a YouTube video and I see the temperature spiking from 50-55 to 67-68 and eventually going back down.
Do I need to tweek anything to make it run differently in idle or have more power under load?
