Hello,

I've just assembled a build with 7800X3D and enabled EXPO.

I've noticed that CPU SOC voltage is at 1.26v and VDDIO is at 1.42v.

Are these voltages safe, especially for the VDDIO, or I have to lower them down considering that my RAM kit need 1.4v?

isuh, you will get lots of opinions here so I'll get it started. I have found AMD does a great job of maintaining the Ryzen variable voltages and other parameters. The VDDIO voltage is specified in data stored in the memory sticks. MY opinion is leave them alone. Enjoy, John.

Thanks, isuh, much better and readable. Please tell me again: are you running Cinebench, what is changed in BIOS? Please run Cinebench again after doing a Clear CMOS and post a screenshot while it is running full blast. It should max all, not sleeping as in RM. Thanks and enjoy, John.

I haven't changed anything in BIOS except for the EXPO profile enabled. Should I have to do a Clear CMOS anyway? You need a screenshot of RM without EXPO?

isuh, EXPO is OK but use RM to set it after doing a Clear CMOS then run Cinebench. I'm just making sure you have a fresh start.

There are lots of stress tests. I have used many and see no real problem with any, just do not always believe the reported numbers, like temperatures, etc., just the crashes of your processor and reported errors. An exception is AIDA64 (I use), but it is a paid application (free trial) so I seldom recommend. Prime 95 is a great one (torture test). Any errors reported should be investigated.

what is the Make & Model of your Motherboard and the current BIOS version you have installed?

My motherboard is ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI and the BIOS version is the latest 2214.

Those seem on the high side, and given the previous overvolting issue I would disable EXPO until you get that motherboard on the latest BIOS version.

Hi, there is lots of opinions here so I would be factual.

Your board, if running the latest BIOS, should have a 1.3v cap on SOC voltage. You are under it, and should be just fine.

The VDDIO is another story, but can be lowered just like any other voltage in the system, a tinkerer will try lower it, and I did, as long as the system is stable under stress, it should be fine.

DRAM voltage is also different, does not have anything to do with the CPU but with the memory modules. Normally, you lift it to push speeds but I did the opposite as well and kept the speeds.

Conclusion

You can keep going as you were, 1,26v is ok.

Or..... Tinker with it, undervolting doesn't ruin stuff. I undervolt almost anything to get better temperatures and sometimes performance.

And always stress test the system to validate the tweaking.

I'll leave my current values for a 7950X & 32gb EXPO 6000DDR5 CL32, in case you are curious about.

vSoC (CPU SoC) - 1,18v

VDDIO/MC - 1,2v

Curve Optimizer - negative 12 all core

vCore - offset negative 0.075v 

VDD/Q (DRAM) - 1.3v

System super stable as of now, idling at 35-39 on a 240 radiator All in One.

What do you suggest to stress the CPU? Is Cinebench R23 enough?
