Hi all, I just built my pc last night and the specs are a 7700x - B650M AORUS ELITE AX (mobo) - 32 gb (2x16) DDR5 Ram 6000mhz - 7900 xt - Arctic liquid freezer 240.
I've tried a few games like Cyberpunk, WoW, the new Warhammer just to name a few, and my CPU will not , or VERY rarely hit 5ghz, it mostly sits in the 3ghz - 4ghz range. I'm using AMDs adrenaline and Ryzen Master for observing temps, clocks etc.
In the Mobo I basically left everything stock, with it all being on Auto basically. I've changed my fan profile, turned the EXPO on for the ram, and went back and forth between Auto PBO and PBO Enabled. That's all I've touched BIOS wise
I've watched videos of people gaming on the 7700x and their clocks are usually always around 5.3ghz, so idk what's going on here.
If anyone has any tips or anything it will be appreciated.
nibiru, please post SSs of Ryzen Master (RM) in both Basic and Advanced modes running Cinebench R23. Thanks, John.
Will do.
would like to add that I'm using Windows 10 and the power plan is on AMD Recommended
Thanks nibiru, your temperature is too high. First thought is there is an attachment problem. Please look and make sure it is tight. I assumed you removed the plastic protector and used a good thermal paste. I always run all my fans directly from the power supply (your Watts?). You can try this. Let me know what you learn. Thanks and enjoy, John.
I thought that 95c was pretty standard under max load for the 7700x from the research I did before my purchase. During games it never goes above 65c. The paste I use is a Noctua paste. 750 watt Deep Cool Gold Psu
Yes,nibiru it is the Maximum. When you see the meters at the top of RM turning red, the processor is throttling. Be sure the cold block is secure and tight and consider running the fans at max. If your cooler you may have an application able to set the fan to max. Thanks and enjoy, John.
I appreciate you taking time out to try to help, but I disagree with it having anything to do with Temps. I understand that 95c is the Maximum, but these cpus are designed to run that hot under extreme loads as the Normal operating temps. There are many examples out there, but I will post one from a person whos well respected in the PC industry and that's Gamers Nexus (Tech Jesus). This is just a screenshot ripped from one of his videos (AMD Ryzen 7 7700x 8-core CPU Review & Benchmarks vs . i7-12700KF,R9 7900x, & More)
Thanks nibiru, you are very welcome. Did you check your water block and cooler application? 95C is the maximum then it shuts down. Is your case well vented? You are throttling for two parameters, Temperature and CPU power. If available please post a SS of the cooler application. You could try removing one or both sides of your case. Thanks and enjoy, John.
