5900X or 5800X3D

Hey, I'm looking to potentially upgrade from a 5600X to one of the two CPUs in the title, I have 32 GB 3600MHz RAM and a RX 6900XT. Additionally my CPU cooler is a Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition.

Currently on Amazon I am able to get a 5900X for £5 cheaper than the 5800X3D, which is making the decision a lot harder.

My daily use of my PC is gaming, watching YouTube, doing school work and using Discord.

Yet, I have plans to get back into streaming, video making/editing, potentially learning Photoshop and Blender, and learning programming.

My big question is what one would be more worth it for me, the cheaper 12 core CPU, or the minorly £5 more expensive 3D cache CPU?

Thank you.

If its gaming then the 5800X3D is the one to get. Content creation work, 5900X.

However, there are some caveats for the X3D part.

- First, if you play mostly E-Sports, some games won't benefit much from the 3DVCache.
- If you plan gaming at 1440p, then the difference between them will shrink.
- Your current cooler may be a little inadequate for your next CPU, but this last one is my opinion.

No matter what path you choose, I would get a decent cooler to go along. See it as future proofing since most AM4 coolers will work with AM5.

Good Luck

I play games like Minecraft with very high shaders (which i feel is a bit slow with my CPU, Valorant casually, games like RDR2 and Elden Ring and emulated DS games

i currently play at 1080p
