Hi everyone,
I've been searching the web concerning my issue (if someone is facing it or has the fix for it), but first of all here is my PC specs :
- CPU : R9 5900x
- Mb : x570 tomahawk (Beta Bios 7C84v163)
- Ram : 2x16gb of 3600mhz CL 16 - Crucial Ballistix (XMP Enabled and working at 3600)
- GPU : Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 (Adrenalin Driver : 21.5.1)
- PSU : EVGA Supernova G2 850w
My Issue :
So my last system was an intel one and had the same graphics card in it, It had some problem but that was related to Amd GPU drivers and was easy to diagnose. It also crashed from time to time but nothing to worry (Normal behavior for AMD Gpu) and that was TBH very rare (0 problem CPU side)
After upgrading to 5900x I started to have games crashing randomly (It crashed without an error popup, sometimes it sutters a little bit before crashing, then boom desktop and nothing). I firstly discovered it by playing Age of Empire 2 Definitive Edition. Just by rolling the mouse on the severals CIVS (To see their specs) I was able to crash the game. And this started to do the same for some other games such as Killing Floor 2, League of Legends, Shadow of the tomb raider, Darksiders 2, ... But this seems only to happen in games.
After searching the web, i found someone that has contacted AMD support (Link here), and from his message, reseting to default mode + locate the Power Supply Idle Control option and set it to Typical seemed to help my system (It crashes very less often now in games).
I must mention that i'm currently using PBO2 (Performance boost overdrive Advanced to be precise) with pbo limits disabled and negative OC by 15 (Basically followed this YT advice : Link here)
The kind of error :
EVENT 1000/1002 - Application error / Hang (Basically it is the "game".exe that crashes by itself reported by Windows Event Viewer) - I also got one time a root cause that was I think : Atidxx64
What i've done to test :
- Memtest86 : RAM passed without issue
- Cinebench running the cpu : No stutter - Score 21000)
- 3D Mark : Passed it
- Disabled PBO and put auto and it also seemed to crash randomly
- Hw info monitoring : Core voltage seems stable between 1.0v-1.4v idle and 1.4 max in game (Temps are max 65°c)
- Fresh reinstall Windows 10 (with manual driver installation) - didnt work, crashes remained
If someone can help me (and others because it seems like i'm not the only one) or tell me if theres a way to remove these crashes, that would be awesome !
