It all depends on your laptop video output ports versions. You laptop should have somewhere on the body the Make & Model number and possibly the Serial Number.
If it is a new laptop it probably has HMDI version 1.4 or higher or DP version 1.4 or higher. But it depends on your laptop graphic specs.
Download SPECCY and run it. It should tell you most of the Make & Model and software versions you have in your laptop.
Now if you are talking about just your Laptop screen than whatever Resolution it is will be the maximum resolution. But if you are talking about a second Display with higher Resolution that will depend on your laptop specs and video output ports.
