Rysen 2400G cannot activate refresh rate to 120 Hz

Dear Support,

I'v a little problem with the refresh rate of my screen. It's blocked to 60 Hz on windows 10

with latest drivers

I've an 120 Hz monitor : SAMSUNG 2233RZ 120 through dual DVI rate

Unfortunately and sadly the DVI mode is limited to 60 Hz with 2400 G :/

So I bought a DVI to HDMI 4k adapter but the drivers or i don't know continue to block to

60 Hz because the drivers of the samsung 2233 rz said it is a DVI monitor i thought ??

So ii's blocked to 60 Hz and i'm unable to create a custom profile with 120 Hz because

the AMD drivers say my screen is not compatible for that...

How I can access to 120 Hz with the hdmi adapter? An idea? Maybe i must to fake to monitor to be

hdmi?

Thank to answer.

Your monitor has a dual-link DVI-D connector.  A normal HDMI to DVI adapter only works with single-link DVI-D connections, which cannot support 120Hz at that resolution.

While possible in theory, I'm not aware of any active HDMI 1.4+ to dual-link DVI-D adapters, which is what you'd need to plug your monitor into the HDMI port on your motherboard.

There are, however, a number of active DisplayPort to dual-link DVI-D adapters which will let you plug your monitor into the DisplayPort connector on your motherboard, assuming it has one.

If it doesn't, and all you have to work with is a HDMI connector on your motherboard, you're not necessarily out of luck, but you'll need a pair of active adapters, which will add up to over $100.  The first is an male DisplayPort to female dual-link DVI-D active adapter, which you will connect via a dual-link DVI-D cable to your monitor.  The second is a female DisplayPort to male HDMI 2.0 active adapter.  You will connect the male DisplayPort of the first adapter into the female DisplayPort of the second adapter, and connect the male HDMI connector of the second adapter to your motherboard HDMI output port.  Both adapters have USB cables that will need to be plugged in to provide power.

Two examples of the first adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-007B-DisplayPort-Dual-Link-Adapter/dp/B00856WJH8/ref=sr_1_7?s=el...

An two examples of the second adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter-Adapter/dp/B0144NS4Z6/ref=sr_1_3?s=el...

It should not escape your attention, however, that buying the required adapters would put you more than halfway towards the cost of decent new Freesync-compatible 1920x1080 monitor at 144Hz.

Thank a lot Thanny for your very complete Answer. It solve my problem. i wish you a very Nice day.

What is the bottom line. I have a similar problem. My Acer monitor supports 144 Hz with  the dual link DVI cable but it will not go past 60Hz at 1080p.  Is that because the integrated graphics card will not support a faster refresh rate at that resolution? I'm not going to invest an any hardware to correct his. I just want to know if the GPU is limiting the refresh rate so I can stop wasting my time.

Hello, yes. What I understood is that the hardware limit by design the refresh rate to 60hz at 1080p usind dvi link... It is normally  possible to have more but that require a display port to dvi dual-link active adapter but you have to check that the 144Hz mode at 1080p is possible for the adapter... So be cautious. Have a very nice day.
