Description of Problem: Starting mid February, I have been having persistent GPU problems. On startup the GPU gives no output. Using motherboard output, in device manager, I will see the RX6600 display adaptor has an error 43 (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems). I then uninstall the GPU drivers using AMD cleanup, DDU, or just uninstalling in device manager (this one does not always work). I reinstall the latest driver version from AMD, restart my PC, and the GPU will work perfectly – no errors, no issues running games.

However, on the next restart, I will be back to Code 43 and no output. This has been fairly consistent over the last ~2 weeks, it does sometimes take multiple attempts, but so far every time I’ve come to use it (and not given up) I have eventually had it working again.

Other context; GPU will work on default windows display adaptors/in safe mode. GPU was purchased new in 2022 and has never had any previous issues. I have never tried to overclock it or mess with BIOS. GPU is mounted directly to PCI slot. When it runs, the GPU fans work fine and peak temperature is around 80-90C.

Troubleshooting: I have tried the following in approximately this order;

  • Roll back gpu drivers in device manager: previous version was not available
  • Factory reset in adrenaline
  • Use AMD cleanuputility then re-install clean AMD drivers from website: provides temporary fix as described, but not to underlying problem. I tried this again using DDU, same result.
  • Disable windows automatic GPU updates through system properties -> hardware (Followed by DDU + clean driver install).
  • Cleaned PC to get any dust out + GPU, then Reseated GPU
  • Tried different cables + swapped monitors, though obviously current ones are working as after the first restart the GPU does work.
  • DDU + clean driver install offline (running driver install as admin)
  • Tried using older versions of GPU drivers like 24.7.1
  • Tried using DDU and then manually uninstalling all remaining AMD folders through control panel, in programdata folders, and registry.
  • Fully reinstalled windows 11 then clean driver install.
  • Updated motherboard BIOS (Followed by DDU + clean driver install).
  • I have looked at flashing GPU bios, could not find exact version (mine is 020.003.000.030.000000 F2, available versions online have different F number) so I did not do this as ATIflash would not allow due to different names, could not find a workaround.

So far, nothing has resolved the underlying issue, and I still have a code 43 after the following restart. I can still use the GPU but I need to leave minimum 15-30mins to sort it out each time, which is very annoying. I am not particularly tech savvy, and having exhausted all the relevant suggestions I can find online I am completely stuck.

I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions, thanks for reading.

Can you post the log for the code 43? Side note: I really love how you laid out this post and I wish everyone would do it this way. So much easier to troubleshoot when people have all the pertinent information from the start. Cheers

Hi, thanks for engaging! I used the troubleshooting template from r/AMDhelp as I didn't know what to include. This is the as of the moment;
