RX570 HDMI Issue

Hi

I've had my RX570 GPU for a bit and hooked up 2 24" monitors to it.  The montiros are Lenovo Thinkvision T2424pa. This model RX 570 has 1 DP, 1 HDMI, and 2 DVI ports.  The new monitors only have DP and HDMI ports.  When I switch the monitors, the HDMI port goes black. The  I've read elsewhere that the issue could be the color depth, but I don't see where I can change it.  Any help appreciated.

Sorry I am confused. Has it ever worked with those 2 monitors or did you for the first time hook one up to HDMI and it is black? Or are you saying one monitor works fine on HDMI and the other one does not? Or neither has ever worked on HDMI?

Sorry for the confusion, but you came to the correct conclusion.  Neither has worked on HDMI.

This was the first time I had connected these Lenovo monitors to this graphics card. It was also the first time I had used the HDMI port, since previously, I had connected 19" monitors to the DVI-D ports.  To troubleshoot that the issue wasn't with the new Lenovo 24" monitors, I switched their cables and connection back and forth between the HDMI and DP ports.  Both worked fine on the DP port, neither worked on the HDMI port - both stay black on the HDMI port.  Thus, leaving me to believe the issue is strictly with the HDMI port.

Thanks, hope the additional info is helpful.

First off to clarify you are connecting to the HDMI on the GPU not one on the mother board, it reads like you said this but making sure.

If you are connecting to the GPU HDMI.

Okay then 2 possibilities.

1. The HDMI port is bad.

2. Windows is messed up and reloading Windows will help. I have had for whatever reason an HDMI port not work then reload Windows and it magically works again. I had tried uninstalling drivers and reloading them to no avail.

Before loading Windows again I would question the support department of who made your GPU about this. See if they can offer any advice and maybe they know exactly where in the Windows registry an error is happening if Windows somehow messing things up. Or maybe they can tell you if they are pretty sure it is the port and offer an RMA.

Thanks, Pokester

Yes correct, I am connecting to HDMI on the GPU.  The mobo is a MSI 990FXA Gaming board and has no on-board graphics.   I guess I'll check with support, or give the Windows reload a try.  The GPU is too old for an RMA, so I'm out of luck there.

Thanks again!

Don't count out the possibility they might RMA it. It never hurts to explain the situation and ask. Or maybe they work you a great deal directly on a new card. Again ask them. If it turns out that it looks like the port never worked and you have the right attitude with them, sometimes things do work in your favor and companies are glad to help.

Thanks, Pokester!

I opened a ticket with Support.  I'll see how it goes, maybe they can at

least get an engineer to look at it.

Thanks again...
