RX 7900 XTX intermittent screen defects

About a week ago I installed a new power supply and new 7900xtx in my old windows pc.

I discovered that my monitor supports up to 120hz so I selected that in windows. Screen went blank and pc reverted to 60Hz.

No idea if my HDMI cable was 2.1 or not so I ordered a new cable.

While waiting for new cable to arrive the card worked flawlessly at 60Hz but there was a huge bottleneck with performance due to my 7 year old i5 processor.

Decided to hell with it lets not leave anything to chance I would buy a new everything.

msi b650 tomahawk

7800x3d

Noctua cooler

6000Mhz DDR5 32G

Samsung 980 M.2 1TB

Samsung 870 EVO PLUS M.2 2TB

New OS Windows 11 Pro

New hdmi cable arrives and try it on my old pc. I select 120Hz and to my surprise it works now. There is a popup asking keep these settings or revert, excitedly I rush my mouse towards Keep and just as I am pressing my mouse button the screen goes black when it returns its back at 60Hz.. using Pc now in this STATE I get a weird grey intermittent rectangular box appearing when scrolling mouse wheel using chrome browser. The issue is repeatable in that I can scroll the mouse wheel 1 click and the weird box appears, then if I scroll mouse down say 1 click the weird box goes away, scroll mouse up 1 click and box appears again.

I emphasise state because because if I now reboot pc and don't mess with refresh rate and leave at 60Hz there are no weird boxes popping up on screen while browsing and scrolling.

New PC components arrive and I build pc/flash bios//install windows/update windows/install chipsets.

Selected 120Hz and it holds firm and doesn't revert to 60 Hz as before.

Now however when browsing using Edge I get that weird grey box appearing intermittently.

I also get the my screen going blank briefly lasting anything from a flash while navigating desktop/browser and up to 5 seconds blank screens in a game.

I now decide to buy another RX7900XTX from which I get the exact same results.

So an intermittent flashing is unbearable, I revert to 60Hz and the flashing stops yet the weird box is ever present and pops up sporadically during browsing using the mouse scroll wheel. It also just appeared whilst typing this post and I noticed that it only  appears sporadically when I hit Enter to move to the next line. Additionally just found weird box can be made to appear simply by moving mouse, is repeatable and demonstrable.

Some help to fix this issue would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I could not see where you mentioned your monitor.

Is there a reason why you are not using DP?

Do you have multiple displays attached? Looks like there is a smaller display or window embedded in the one shown. What you call the glitch.I have never seen that before.

I would look into turning off MPO.

At the very least, turning off hardware acceleration will probably fix it.

Did you use the same install after getting all new components? That's really not recommended.

I'm using a Samsung QN95A as my monitor

DP?

No multiple displays, no.

MPO?

No hardware acceleration, why would I need it
