rx 580 new build nubie

Hi I hope someone can help me.

Im 53 but no stranger to laptops and pcs having used them since the 386 days in the mid 80's BUT i only ever used what came with the system swapping and changing bits as were needed but up until last week I always just stuck with onboard graphics.

So I decided on a little project of build a mid range gaming pc for as little as I could.

I got 2 22" monitors on a nice stand for free

I got 2 old optiplex pcs 1 donated the other a 3050 for £10 and a better monitor for £5

I then got a zoostorm 7000 for £10 with a gigabyte ga-h81m-sv2 mother board and in intel i7 4th gen with intel hd 4600 onboard graphics.

all this worked ok it ran minecraft and roblox and even fortnite for the kids even fallout 4 was just ok for me but kingdom come deliverance and a few others i tried for me were really struggling and a few point blank refused to run but for a total spend of £25 i cant really complain.

which leaves me where im at now.

So i seen someone on facebook market place  selling a nice flashy case with fans a gamemax gm500 power supply and a msi 1060 for all together £110 as he was selling separately. My partner bargained him down to £85 fir the lot. so far net spend of £110

So when the kids were in bed I went about my business of transferring the motherboard cps of course and everything from the zoostorm case to the new one and i fitted the graphics card.

nada zilch comes out of the card but I can still use the onboard. I thought the card was broken as even windows and gpuz cant see it but he blocked me and refused a refund so the same day I purchased a AMD Aorus RX580 cardand came home and plugged it in. so far net spend of £180.

Current state

flashy case

ga-h81m-s2v

16gb ram

gamemax gm 500

and RX 580

Still no output from any of the ports on the RX so having to use onboard

windows finds it but adrenilin 24.1.1 wont load and says incompatible. I have disabled windows automatic driver update

I tried flashing the bios with ambiflash following techdrs guide and all was successful but still no output.

Speccy reoirts a clock speed of 000ghz

hwinfo64 shows the card but gpu and memory both on 300

gpuz shows nothing on any of the clocks but the fans on 50% and a speed of 1720rpm and a vddc voltage of 0.9000  and a cpu temperature of 54 degrees

The little white LED flashes exactly every 4 minutes and I have all 8 pins on the graphics card used from the cable that coms from the power supply. I have read it means abnormal voltage but I also read a 480watt power supply will run this and this is a 500 watt supply.IMG_20240303_064054.jpgIMG_20240303_064100.jpgIMG_20240303_065643.jpgIMG_20240303_070320.jpgIMG_20240303_065635.jpgIMG_20240303_065632.jpgIMG_20240303_064432.jpgIMG_20240303_064445.jpgIMG_20240303_064637.jpgIMG_20240303_064707.jpgIMG_20240303_064735.jpgIMG_20240303_064752.jpgIMG_20240303_064800.jpgIMG_20240303_065628.jpgIMG_20240303_064044.jpgIMG_20240303_064047.jpg

I might have missed it, but did you change the BIOS setting to "discreet gpu" or sometimes "PCIe gpu" from onboard?  When you updated the BIOS it probably set/reset to using the default which is onboard gpu.

Hi I forgot to mention my bios. I updated my bios from revision 1 to revision 3 which is the highest for that motherboard and once inside the bios it does give me a choice of "initial GPU device" but this is just for choosing which GPU is selected for displaying the bios and loading screens until you get until windows. I played with it.

If I choose onboard it doesn't find the pcie discreet gpu

If I choose to boot the pcie first I see nothing at all even if I try to blindly log into windows

And if I turn onboard GPU completely off so the discreet gpu is the only choice it's exactly the same.  Nowhere at all in this version of gigabyte firmware is the option to choose the pcie as a permeant device.

I have just been abs picked up 2 i5 10th gen pcs for dinar parts so I'm going to swap out the motherboard and CPU from 1 when I get home and hope I have better luck with one of these Dell motherboards

latest attempt. I read it could be either thermal paste or poor power supply soni trued thermal paste since I had some of that laying around from when I did my PS4. Now the strange thing is I get this from the dvi output but nothing at all from the HDMI and I can't test the display ports and this is also with the Radeon driver showing the yellow triangle. But it also shows this artifacting whilst booting up.
