A couple days ago I bought a used RX 5700 XT Sapphire Nitro+ (Micron) to replace my old RX 580 (which worked perfectly for more than 5 years) and came across crashes of some random (?) games, usually dx11.dll errors, once crashed with amd driver timeout.
Working:
All synthetic tests, Furmark, 3Dmark, Unigine
Baldur's Gate 3, Witcher 3, Deep Rock Galactic, Hunt, Portal 2, RDR 2.
Not Working:
Dirt Rally 2.0 - Game Violation Access crash on loading screen.
Lethal Company
PUBG - Unknown error before loading to lobby
Stray
Frostpunk
At the same time almost every game that didn't work on Windows I ran on Ubuntu via Proton 8.0 and they worked fine. (Maybe because the renderer is Vulkan?)
What I did (Almost everything, except physical replacement of PC components):
- Lowered gpu frequencies and voltage as well as max tdp (50%)
- Installed PRO drivers
- Reinstalled Chipset drivers
- Disabled/enabled FreeSync, Anti-lag, enchanced sync, VSR
- Turned off AMD SAM (re-size bar in bios too)
- Reset bios
- Set pcie3 mode in bios
- Increased tdrdelay
- Re-installed Windows (10/11)
- Turned off MPO
- Stability testing of RAM, CPU, PSU
- Turn off XMP profile
My components:
Motherboard: MSI B450-A PRO MAX
PSU: Chieftec ECO 600W
Monitor: MSI G241VC 75Hz
M2: Kingston KC2500
