Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a strange issue with my build and could really use some advice. Here are the specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7800G
- RAM: G.SKILL F5-6000J3238F16GX2-FX5 FLARE X5 32GB (2x16GB)
- Motherboard: ASROCK B650M PRO RS D5 RETAIL (Updated to the latest BIOS)
- PSU: CORSAIR CP-9020231-EU RM750
- Monitor: LG 29WP60G-B Ultrawide
Issue:
At seemingly random intervals (around once every two days, though this can vary), my monitor goes blank when using the 780M iGPU.
- HDMI Output: Bright green screen
- DisplayPort (DP) Output: Black screen
Oddly, the computer itself continues to function as if nothing has happened. I can blindly put it to sleep using memorized keystrokes, and when I wake it, everything works fine—no errors, logs, or noticeable issues.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Testing the monitor: It works flawlessly with other PCs.
- Testing cables: Replaced both HDMI and DP cables, but the issue persists.
- Driver troubleshooting:
- Tried multiple driver versions.
- Used DDU to uninstall and clean-install drivers.
- Checking logs: No errors or relevant warnings in the system logs.
- Disabling EXPO/Resetting bios to defaults/ forcing iGPU use in BIOS: Still the same issue, no measurable difference in the frequency it appears.
- Logged temperatures of APU: are sub 65c at all times the issue came up
- Stress tested the gpu/cpu to reach 85c: the issue did not manifest itself.
Unfortunately I do not have easy access to a dGPU to test
Despite these efforts, the problem remains.
If anyone has experienced something similar or has suggestions on what else I could try, I’d greatly appreciate it!
