On board Graphics Card Cant install Drivers - AMD Ryzen™ 3 2200U

Hello everyone,

 

I have purchased a laptop two and a bit years ago and recently I've had an issue with my graphics card, if I try to install any graphics drivers (Weather thats Auto Detect adrenaline or my specific driver) my laptop will not boot. It will simply boot to a black screen and then hang, its completely unresponsive and I cant use it then I have to hard reset and system restore to a previous point. So I now simply have no driver installed and only Microsoft Basical Display Adapter, I am at a loss as to what to do next.

This is my laptop (https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06090136) and this is the onboard graphics card (https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/amd-ryzen-3-2200u). What could be suggested? I apologise if theres not enough info here, tell if theres anything else I need to say.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS installed from 10/29/2021.

Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) with the internet disconnected and deleting AMD installation folder at C:\AMD and download HP last latest AMD Driver for your APU from here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-14-cm0000-laptop-pc/20395806/model/23086438

Not sure which of the above HP AMD Drivers is the best one to install. Seems like the version starting with 27.20 would be the latest HP AMD APU Driver for your processor and integrated graphics.

You probably need to update the BIOS version on your laptop if you got it a couple of years ago. That might make the APU driver to be more compatible.

Also run all the 4 types of Diagnostics just to see that you have no Hardware or software issues that could be causing the problems you are having.

If the HP AMD Driver installs and your laptop is now working normally you can try and install AMD own generic laptop driver from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-3-mobile-processors-radeon-vega-gr...

But ONLY if the HP AMD driver is working fine and your laptop is again working like before.

NOTE: Windows 10 must fully updated via Windows Update for the latest AMD APU Driver to work and install correctly.
