PC Graphics

Never buying AMD again

For about a month now I've getting the "Engine Error 0x887A0006 — DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" error code while playing Apex Legends. It happens multiple times a day, sometimes even back to back matches, and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. I have completely wiped my current drivers and installed fresh ones, I have verified the integrity of Apex's files, and I only get this issue when playing Apex. Sometimes the crash is so bad that it completely screws up my computer by locking me in a white screen or causing the screen to artifact into oblivion and I have to reset my PC. I also more often then not crash when even trying to boot Apex.

Frankly this is beyond infuriating and has completely pushed me off of ever buying an AMD graphics card ever again. Their absolutely terrible drivers are making my Apex sessions a hell hole to play, multiple great matches lost due to this crap. I'll be looking to sell my 5700xt nitro+ as soon as possible and buying an Nvidia replacement. This is just ridiculous.

Have you tried running the game in admin mode?

Right click the Apex Legends .exe file, go to compatibility tab and tick the box Run as administrator..

Try it may work..

This seems to be an issue that has been going on for a while. There are other posts with suggestions on how to fix it but no one at AMD has said anything about it yet. They are either unaware or don't yet have a fix for the issue. It very well may be that the recent season update messed up the game, as it seems that is when the artifacting started. I too want to play the game, but am afraid to play it because I don't want to deal with the artifacting bug. I would suggest you look on the discussion board for Apex for a fix and check out this thread Weird issue with crashing apex legends - AMD Community. I hope the issue can be fixed soon.

I would also suggest running "SFC /scannow" in command prompt running in admin as well as "DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth" in powershell as admin, to see if your file system has any corruption that may be potentially causing any crashes.

Good luck.
