I'm having a persistent issue with my gaming setup, and I'm at a loss on what to do next. Whenever I'm gaming, my system crashes to a green screen. Sometimes it happens within 10 minutes, other times I can game for hours without any problems. Here's my current setup:
- **Motherboard:** A520
- **PSU:** 550W
- **RAM:** 2x8GB Fury
- **CPU:** Ryzen 5 5600
- **GPU:** 6600XT
- **Storage:** 1TB HDD and 512GB SSD
- **OS:** Windows 10
### What I've Tried So Far:
1. **Driver Updates:** I've installed different versions of the GPU drivers, both older and the latest ones from AMD, but the crashes still happen.
2. **BIOS Update:** Updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version available, which didn't resolve the issue.
3. **Swapping Components:** I swapped out my current motherboard, CPU, and RAM for my old setup (Intel i3 4170 with DDR3 RAM) and kept the same PSU and GPU. The green screen crashes still occurred. The difference is that with the Ryzen setup, the system would auto-restart after the green screen, but with the Intel setup, it just hangs and I have to manually restart using the power button.
4. **Testing on a Different PC:** I installed the GPU in a friend's completely different PC (different PSU, CPU, RAM, and motherboard). His system is also an AMD build and has a 750W PSU, so power shouldn't be an issue. However, the system still crashed with a green screen without auto-restarting, just like with my Intel setup.
### Symptoms:
- On the Ryzen setup, it green screens with distorted audio for a second before restarting automatically.
- On the Intel setup and my friend's AMD build, it just green screens and buzzes, without the auto-restart.
- No crashes or issues during regular non-gaming use.
### Additional Details:
- I've monitored temperatures, and nothing seems to be overheating.
- Given that my friend's system has a 750W PSU and the issue still occurred, it seems unlikely that my 550W PSU is underpowered or faulty.
### Questions:
1. Has anyone encountered this specific green screen issue before? If so, what was the root cause?
2. Could this be a GPU hardware fault even though it’s not overheating?
3. Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take before considering an RMA for the GPU?
4. Could there be something else I'm missing that could be causing these crashes?
I appreciate any advice or insights you might have. I've been struggling with this for a while and am starting to run out of ideas. Thanks in advance for your help!
