I have a seldom used 2011 27' iMac (2nd hand); it has frequent auto-restart in recent few weeks.
I want to know if GPU is defective due to natural wearing-out.
iMac AMD Radeon HD 6970M (not for windows)
May AMD Radeon GPU talents enlighten me:
1. is it possible to check the first date of use since manufacture?
2. is there any predictive app or resource to predict longevity of a GPU?
3. I tear down the iMac and find some dried thermal paste on GPU and adjacent chips. Assumed it is used a decade ago, pasting new thermal past is helpful or useless? aluminium, magnesium, silicon are simply metal ions in the paste ...
4. Will you continue using or dispose? how will u do for this old GPU?
