How do I connect a WX9100 card to a Mac mini (with Thunderbolt3) and Benq display

I'm wondering if I need to do more than connect the Mini to the Radeon WX9100 using a Thunderbolt 3 cable, then connect the Mini to the BENQ display using an HDMI cable. Do I need to connect to the display directly from the card, using a Minidisplay port 1.4?
