For the first time since I bought the 5700XT last July, my HDR Windows game display is working as advertised--and I must say it is excellent! The thing is, it's never worked well before now! I could get it to work, sometimes, but the display was never very good through HDR. Really poor, actually. I had chalked it up to my otherwise great monitor not being so hot for HDR. But that is no longer the case!...;)
Every Windows game with an HDR mode I have is running perfectly under HDR now and looking fantastic. I'll list three that I can think of atm...RDRII, NoMan's Sky, ACOdyssey--all of them look so good I'm amazed frankly. The 1000-nit HDR mode in NMS is the best looking of the modes supported in NMS--400 and 600 options function, too. (My monitor is nowhere near 1000nits--but it looks fantastic!)
But I don't know what has brought this about. Was it the 20.5.1HWS drivers, particularly the new "10-bit" switch under Global/Graphics/Advanced? Was it the new v2004 WDM 2.7 display drivers in v2004? Was it somehow the hardware scheduling in these drivers that fixed it?
Anyone have any ideas? this is quite the pleasant surprise--but don't know when or what has suddenly completely fixed it. It looks really nice now at 4k. Just thought I'd pass it on!
