Hi. I just bought a Strix G15 Advantage with a Ryzen 9 5900HX and RX 6800M (which is essentially a downclocked RX 6700 XT) and have generally been pretty happy with it except for video playback. I primarily use MPC HC x64 (not the old one) to play my 40Mbps 1080p H.264 Blu-ray rips and I thought that this laptop would be able to handle it with ease seeing that it has support for up to 8K HEVC on the integrated Vega graphics.
Upon loading the file into MPC HC x264 however, the video played back with green artifacts for the first 4-6 seconds before disappearing. I then tried to use software decoding which made the playback essentially flawless with no issues.
For reference, DXVA2, both native and copy-back, were used for hardware decoding but I also tried using the 6800M with D3D11, I even tried VLC but they all yielded the same artifacts. I could use software but that would make my CPU run hotter. So, is there any way to fix this?
