GPU not recognize + driver update : blackscreen

**Hello everyone, I’m desperately looking for help.**

**Context:** I’ve just built my brand-new PC. Every component is new, and I followed multiple tutorials to make sure everything was assembled correctly.

I managed to boot into Windows, completed the installation, installed all the Windows updates (some were problematic but eventually installed), and then installed all the motherboard drivers. When I got to the GPU, I noticed it wasn’t properly recognized in Device Manager—it only showed up as **“Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.”** Additionally, there are four other devices listed with yellow exclamation marks, including one labeled as something like **“PCI Device.”** (I can check the exact name if needed. I already tried a few things related to it, but no success—long story.)

I went to the official AMD website, downloaded the latest drivers, and started the installation. However, during the process, the screen went black and stayed that way. The PC kept running (fans, RGB, etc.), but there was no signal to the monitor.

After a forced restart, Windows begins to load—but just after the loading screen, it goes black again. I can’t access the desktop anymore unless I restore to a previous system restore point.

Here’s a summary of everything I’ve tried over the last 3 days (I might have missed a few steps):

**General Context:** • Brand-new PC, manually assembled • AMD GPU detected by HWinfo and GPU-Z (correct model, VRAM, etc.) • Display works via **HDMI directly on the GPU**, as long as AMD drivers are **not** installed

**Hardware & Connections:** • GPU properly connected (power cables + PCIe slot) • HDMI and PSU cables tested and working • Tried reseating the GPU and switching PCIe slots • CMOS battery reset • 1000W PSU—ample power for the system • RGB, fans, and boot sequence all behaving normally

**BIOS Settings:** • BIOS updated • Primary Video Device: PCIe • Integrated Graphics: Auto • Hybrid Graphics: Enabled • Nvidia Detection: Enabled (just in case) • Performance Boost: Disabled (to avoid overheating/OC issues)

**Drivers and OS:** • Windows fully updated • All motherboard drivers installed • Used **DDU in Safe Mode** to cleanly uninstall previous AMD drivers • Clean AMD driver installation always causes a black screen • HWinfo and GPU-Z correctly detect the GPU

**Other Tests:** • Booted into Safe Mode • Disabled antivirus and firewall during driver installation • Checked hidden devices in Device Manager • Tried different installation sequences (Windows → motherboard → GPU, and other variations) • Performed several clean Windows reinstalls

If anyone has any ideas, even basic ones, I’d really appreciate it. I may have missed something.

The **only test I haven’t been able to do**—which could help confirm whether the GPU is faulty—is trying the card in another system.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It could be windows problem, try to install another OS like Ubuntu Desktop and see if it helps.

You can download it for free here:  ubuntu.com/download/desktop
