There are atleast 2 different types of flicker in Star Wars Battlefront 2015. This game uses frostbite 3 as engine, the same engine as Battlefield 1.
The issues happened with every driver version I could find that still booted up the game.
Graphics card I tested: RX 7800 XT, RX 9070 XT, the IGPU of 9800X3D CPU.
I have reinstalled the game and windows multiple times as well.
The graphical issues are extremely reproducible. There are amd control panel game settings and video settings to either worsen or fix several types of flicker but even with best settings at least 1 type of flicker remains.
The issues never happen with NVIDIA gpus across thousands of hours of playtime.
The issues don't change when using a different monitor or switching from HDMI to DisplayPort or vice versa.
Every component (incl. ssd, gpu, ram, 750w power supply, case, cpu cooler) except for the motherboard and the cpu in my system was changed, no effect.
The game settings were reset several times.
Types of flicker and how to affect them:
Type 1 flicker - main menu/settings page buttons/ in-game HUD (heads up display) flicker.:
Quite certain this type of flicker only happened when running the game in fullscreen exclusive mode (can't remember my testing fully) but it atleast always happened with FSE + default 100% res scale, immediately visible upon launching game to main menu. The flicker affects all clickable menu elements plus ingame hud.
Changing "Resolution Scale" Value from the default of 100% (config value of exact 1.00) to anything else, for example 99% or 101%, completely fixes this flicker.
This type of flicker is always present no matter settings/gpu/igpu/driver/configuration/windows used:
Type 2 flicker. During in game gameplay, no matter the map and game mode, there are black flickers/aka. black flashes/aka. sudden black horizontal large lines appearing randomly during gameplay. Steps to reproduce: play any game mode, any map for 5 minutes, its guaranteed they will happen. But they might happen only once every 1-2 minutes or once every 4 minutes.
