Hello everyone!
I have recently upgraded my graphics card from GTX 970 to 5700XT (Incl my entire system). Although i have been getting frequent crashes and the temp display loss with the error message - "Display driver stopped working and has successfully recovered". This display loss mostly happens after a cold restart (Every morning). One of the common solutions for this issue from Google - I have tried to put a new DWORD in the reg, It did not work. My specs are as below:
Ryzen 3600
Sapphire 5700XT
16gb DDR4 @3200hz
Gigabyte x470 Moterboard @ latest BIOS
(Running everything at stock)
Has anyone else been having this issue? Also the frequent crashes with this card?
Please help guys, This is started to be annoying now.
Thanks!
I have had it for month and have been following this thread, some fixes are working for some people.
Look up threads under drivers section. Also see below thread.
This has been happening everyday now after cold start . It is so annoying! Ugh! Has anyone else been facing this issue or any one found a solution for this? Please help! SOS

I can get it to happen while BROWSING in internet explorer (no problems with other browsers, yet) and in games pretty much right away.
Can watch youtube and netflix with no issues.
I will get a blackscreen within 15 seconds if I scroll up and down on this amazon page in IE (firefox and chrome no problems) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XDD6GD3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
I've run memtest and system file checker, no issues detected
Tried driver version 19.12.2 and 20.1.2. Happens just as frequently in both.
Even viewer has this error on each occurrence: "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
If I get that even viewer error twice in a row within seconds my screen turns back on on its own. If I only get one error screen stays black and I have to reboot.
I may have found a fix for me. Old drivers. I do not black screen with these. 19.7.5 https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-19-7-5
Some other issues have been reported with these old drivers. Freezing issues etc. I only had them for 10 minutes, so can't say anything about that other then I can NOT cause a black screen, at will, within 15 seconds anymore.
Now I just have to figure out how to stop windows or radeon from updating it for me.
I have a 6600G Board and the only time it blacks out is in the file listing in Windows file Explorer. If I trace over the top with the mouse and click it will "relight" some lines. Games work ok, it is only goofing up in multiple File explorer windows.
Solution 1: Uninstall the Graphics Driver
Solution 2: Update the Graphics Driver
Solution 3: Increase GPU Processing Time
I have updated the driver several times hoping that a fix would come through, but it has not improved. I have just done an update rather than an uninstall and reinstall. Are you indicating that there may be some fragments left? Where do I increase GPU processing time?
I removed the ATI driver and reinstalled it with Adrenaline package. No change. Then I tried removing the driver and installing via windows control package. Still no change.
