Computer glitching then turning black when playing games

Mainly when I am playing games this started happening, but it does happen when I am idling as well sometimes. My screen glitches ( I see lines of different colors, all I can describe it is as a glitch, kinda like a patchwork of colors) and then the screen goes black. I have to restart my computer manually, then it runs for a little bit and the event repeats. I can't play games longer than 15 minutes without this happening. This is recent.
