24.4.1 works fine
24.5.1 randomly Black screen/boot hang appeared
24.6.1 100% black screen after first boot. must press restart button. 2nd boot, everything works fine
I must roll back to 24.4.1 to use my PC normaly. So anyone here met the same problem, and how to fix that? or just roll back to the older driver version?

Hello, I also have problems with the new update 24.6.1 especially in raceroom. The game is loaded and the main page is also displayed, but as soon as I'm on a server I have a black screen (sound is there) and I can't do anything. If I then click on the mouse, the message "Raceroom is not responding" comes up and I have to end it. My system radeon rx 6700xt 12gb ryzen 5 5600x b450 gaming plus Mainboard 800watt power Adapter
So I think there's no solution for this problem. We might wait for 24.7.1 or roll back to 24.4.1. My PC works fine from 23.12.1 till 24.4.1.
yes, I've already switched back
Hi,
Same Issue here with very different hardware
First boot after power down I get a mainly black screen with 3 green vertical lines
Can hear the rest of the system booting, so only display is corrupt.
Hit the reset button and all, is OK
Hopefully next driver will fix...

Just a quick update.
Had a couple of windows updates apply around 6 days ago, have not seen a black screen since.
They were
2024-07 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 (KB5039895)
and
2024-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5040442)
Maybe this will help someone.

Since I updated to 24.6.1 it screwed me card....I have reinstalled windows and have tried 24.6.1 on a fresh install which makes no difference and sadly going back down to 24.5.1 - 24.4.1 -24.3.1 its all doing the same for them now too....sometimes its frequent and sometimes I can play days with no trouble....extremely sporadic and frustrating because before this 24.6.1 update I have had no problems over the last two years.
New update 24.7.1 same problem nothing has changed
I'm having a very similar issue. It started for me with 24.6.1 so I rolled back to 24.5.1 and haven't had the issue since. When 24.7.1 came out I immediately got the same problem, except instead of a black screen, I got a terrible graphics glitch that made me think my GPU was dying (7900 xtx). Rolled back again to 24.5.1 and everything's great again. The only issue I've noticed is MSI Afterburner no longer can see the GPU temp (even when opening after starting a game) and OpenRGB no longer detects my GPU. Both worked normally when in 24.6.1 and 24.7.1.
I have this too, it's blank/black almost like it gets to the part where the login screen should be.
I still suffer from frequent pc idle driver crashes and desktop low GPU crashes too. Which force a restart and then sometimes have to reinstall the driver.

Sounds like my same issue. Have you found a way to fix it?
Unfortunately not no. I'm just dealing with it - just hoping not to corrupt any files when I hold down the power button to reboot. Like I said sometimes I have to fully reinstall the driver, so that the AMD software can detect the GPU again.
Hanging at the login screen was just the most recent addition to the various issues.
I have tried everything software wise , DDU etc.
If you find a solution let me know
It is happening also to me. After installing drivers 24.6.1 and 24.7.1 during the launch of Windows, after I turned on the PC, the system stopped and a black screen appeared. I need to restart the PC using the rest key. Then the system launches correctly. I also noticed that games such as Star Wars Old Republic and Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (gog) after lunch go to a black screen.
When I`m using driver 24.4.1 everything is OK and none of those issues are happening. I reported this through the bug tool.

Ok after a good two weeks of monitoring and so on, I worked out the PSU is not enough or suffered a problem from the latest driver (not sure why) I on a was 850w Thermaltake, and have upgraded to a MSI MAG A1000GL PCIE5 80PLUS GOLD Certified ATX 3.1/PCIe 5.1
and has fixed the problem no crashes since.
Now here is where it gets interesting....THREEE of my friends and my dad as well have ALL had the exact same problem.. We all have a 7900xtx and we were on 850w one of us were on a 900w all but one had black screen crashes since the start of last month....and my fathers PSU just gave up completely. we all bought a new PSU at 1000w and have been fine since, I am extremely concerned as well with the rest of my friends that this happened because this cannot be coincidence.
It seems strange, the changing of PSU is resolving the issue. Maybe it is related to the ATX 3.1/PCIe 5.1 standard. But I`m not an expert and I do not fully understand this. We all use 2 or 3 x 8 PIN connectors to the graphics, not those fancy NVIDIA power connectors.
I`m also surprised because I had 750W and switched to 1000W (all my PSUs are in GOLD standard, but not ATX3.1) and for me, a black screen appears when I`,m using drivers 24.6.1 and 24.7.1.
nah, i haven't met any crashes. The problem is the fooking foolish new driver makes my PC start with intel iGPU instead of GPU. Need to restart to my PC decide to use GPU. That's the problem. So i disable iGPU in bios, and whoola, everything works fine.
Hello, I have encountered the same issue after installing driver version 24.7.1 with a 6750 XT. Wanted to see if anyway has found a solutions?
Maybe stop using any OC/UV can help. If it doesn't, so just fall back 24.4.1 or 24.5.1.
I`m afraid not. The only solution for most of us is to use 24.4.1 drivers.
24.8.1 is still the same. Black screen during Windows launch and running old games like Heroes 3 and Diablo.
It's happening on my pc too, I thought it was my gpu's Thermal Pads and Paste that dried out so I ordered some paste and pads, but then the issue still happens, PC will go no display then fans will go 100%. So because of that I thought my PSU was dying but then I saw this and immediately tried rolling back to 24.5.1 (make sure you use DDU) and it works fine now. There's a new update 24.8.1 but the issue is still happening.
Same issue with a 7900XT, but I already have a 1000w PSU. I’ve been going nuts the past couple of months trying to troubleshoot this. Checking connections. Reseating. Removing certain usb devices. Nothing. Problem will disappear for days and then randomly it’ll plague me a couple boots in a row. Tapping the power button twice fixes it. I used to hold power down and force it to reboot in safe mode but it’s not necessary. Has AMD confirmed this yet? I’d just like some confirmation it’s drivers before rolling back.
24.8.1 fix all my problems, so maybe you guys should give it a try.
Gents, after upgrading to 24.9.1 drivers, when a black screen appears, during Windows start, try to turn off your monitor (monitors) and then turn it on. For me, it works, and the Windows login screen is appearing.
thank you for that solution. it really works with me
