AMD Video Cards and WarHammer 40K - Space Marine 2 , crashes to desktop. Max Frequency limit fix.

Alot of people are reporting problems with AMD video cards crashing to desktop when playing WarHammer 40K Space Marine 2 even when using the latest preview drivers "24.20.11.01".

On my 7900XT, I had limit "Max Frequency (MHz)" in Adrenaline by -100 MHz in order for the game to stop crashing.   Other people with 5700XT did the same trick and it fixed the issue with the game crashing for them as well.   The question I have is why?    This doesn't sound like a "game issue" but more of a card boost behaviour issue.   Overzealous boost behaviour on default settings, or inadequate silicon that can't meet stock boost behaviour on the game?

----------- FIX / PROCEDURE ----------

Adrenaline Control Panel -> Performance [Tab] -> MANUAL TUNING ENABLED -> Tuning [Tab] -> GPU Tuning [x] Enabled -> Advanced Control [x] Enabled

There should be a "Max Frequency (MHz)" slider with a default value.

Set the slider and subtract 100 MHz from that value (for example, on my 7900XT - it's 2858 MHz) so I set it to 2758 Mhz (do note this is different from one card family to the next). Apply the settings and try to play the game.

Background: On my Radeon 7800XT rig, I have no problems at all playing the game and don't get crash to desktop issues (didn't have to do this fix). Totally different issue on my Radeon 7900XT rig - crash to Desktop galore when playing the game. No problem at all though when I limit the "Max Frequency" and drop it by 100 MHz or so. No more crashes to desktop after that and was able to play the campaign.

You can also try reverting to a previous driver version to see if it runs a bit more stable

This is not a "Fix"

This is capping the performance of your card that you paid top dollar for because of its bad design and bad drivers.

The fix is to buy Nvidia and never look back.

Crazy to think that 2 years after its release, can't even play WoW without being afraid of crashes and that people have to wait for months after a game releases to be able to play it

Created an account to post this because i tried so much stuff without luck.

I had the same problem where i couldn't get past a cutscene without a driver crash and downloaded the 24.20.11.01 driver and it finally fixed it
