Hello,
was looking for some possible advice on a rx480, it has worked for many years since I purchased brand new. The last time it was working the fan rpm was at max and was running cool. Since that happened i rebooted now the fan has not spun up once, even on boot up and after reaching temperatures above 60. I've tried manually setting fan rpm in Radeon software via tuning, also tried msi after burner to see if that would work, no luck with any of these. Should i try replacing the fan? or should i give up? As far as i know the card still working shows up in the Radeon software and temps are still showing up, just able to watch it warm up and thats all.
But the card works fine still, right? Depending on which rx480 you have specifically it might be relatively easy to get replacement fans. You should try contacting the manufacturer (Gigabyte, MSI or whatever).
yes the card is working fine as far as i can tell through Radeon software just no fan spinning but will eventually overheat which i don't wanna take that chance. I found the fan it FD6525H12D i just went ahead and ordered one for 20 - 30 $. So i am hoping this will solve it.
Oooh, it's a reference card. Changing the fan should help if it wasn't a software issue. Good luck!
ya OG card i guess, and yes i tried the whole software thing new and rollback and etc no change but like i said it worked before just before the whole crazy max fan thing then after reboot no more.
