Hello,
on an old laptop hp g72 b52sf there is always this bsod atikmpag.sys video_tdr_failure each time when the laptop is booting or when downloading a new amd/ati driver.
in order to avoid that the pc remains blocked, i have to desactivate the amd peripheral in the device manager and to desactivate also the AMD external events utility service.
i concluded that this happens each time the driver is loaded...
Later i will join to this post the whocrashed report, the speccy report, and the dxdiag report...with the error event in the events manager.
sometimes i have the error code 31 when i try to load the driver on this peripheral in the device manager properties.
in the speccy report i noticed that for the amd graphics peripheral the gpu clock was: 0.0mhz that's surprising...
With the occct software the temperature of the chip was always below 58°c.
effectively on the motherboard there is a discrete gpu chip, but i did'nt find means to desactivate this chip, neither in the bios nor the registry.
On a previous ont this forum about this problem, i read that it may be a matter of dram quality , it may depends of the brand of the ram chip.
i hope there will be somebody who can advice me to solve this problem.
Thank you in advance for your answers.

please : explain me how to join a txt file and i will send you the different reports.
Hello,
here is the jpeg of the different reports...
The last /final drivers for that product were from July 2015/March 2016 for Win.10.
What is the processor model?
Hello,
Thank you for your answer...
The processor model is:
Hello,

Have you tried downloading the device drivers for your specific laptop direct from HP Support?
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Hello,
Thank you for your suggestion...
Previously i used the sp50704.exe driver for this hp g72 b52sf that i found in the "driverscollection" website...
With the link that you gave me i found a sp49567.exe driver for an hp g62 ...device; these two drivers were for w7 os systems.
But that doesn't work better...i have an error 43 in the device manager for this display after trying to install this one.
i made a quick research for that error code...and they indicate that it may be a problem with the gpu bios...i never read something about this.
i let with this post some photos of the cpu-z report and visuals of the device manager.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I would not suggest to use a driver for a different model (G62) on your model (G72) laptop.
If you can't find the exact driver to use I would contact HP Support so they can provide the correct one.
Hello,
Thank you for your remark.
Previously as driver file i used sp 50704 and to day i reinstalled it with w7 compatibility. Doing that i had the error code 31 in the device manager; but each time i reboot or reactivating the peripheral after desactivating it i have the bsod atikmpag...My hope is that in the events properties of the device manager there is a notification that the installation must continued... what does that mean?
Yesterday i used the driver file sp49567 (this one related to hp g62-a00...which was indicated by the hp support web site). With this driver after installation i had not bsod , for a while the peripheral was ok, untill i rebooted and then i had the error code 43in the device manager.
these two drivers dated of 2010 with w7.
Below i let you copy of the events properties in the device manager and the occt report that shows that it is not an overheating problem.
Thank you in advance for your answer.

hello,
i made some progress...
as at each time i installed a driver for the amd graphics from normal state of w10 i had a bsod either when installing, either rebooting; i tried to install it in safe mode.
i used this driver: https://www.amd.com/fr/support/downloads/drivers.html/graphics/radeon-hd/radeon-hd-5000-series/ati-r... for w10 64 bits crimson edition beta.
this time in safe mode , installing it manually, it works without bsod.
Before coming back to normal mode and booting, i desactivated the amd graphics peripheral and the service : "amd external utility" and then in the device manager of w10 in normal mode, i had the two graphics peripherals amd and intel. i had only to reactivate the amd peripheral, and in the device manager this last one was indicated as ok.
all was ok; the amd peripheral was detected by "furmark" but the temperature was 0°c.; only one thing was strange: in the details properties of the driver, one file was marked as in error and desactivated ; that's :amdacpksd.sys as you could see on the photo at the end of this post...
that's probably the presence of this file (in a correct state) that provoke the instability and bsod. previously i remarked that after bsods all was ok in the details of the driver in the device manager...
thank you for reading me; perhaps these new tries will mean something at somebody.
Thank you in advance for your answers.

hello,
one thing i have forgotten...
although the amd graphics seems ok in the device manager, when i desactivate the intel graphics in order to swap of graphics peripheral i have a black screen; no graphic device work anymore...
in my web research i found nothing with "amdacpksd.sys"...i will try to rename it in the drivers folder of the system.
waiting for your answers.

Having some issues with my Samsung Neo G8 HDR monitor. When I turn on HDR in games like Lies of P and Alan Wake II, the brightness is way too dark. Disabling AMD FreeSync Premium Pro helps fix it, but then my VRAM jumps to 2400MHz+. Even after the AMD 23.9.2 update, the brightness bug is still there. It’s kind of like checking subway menü preise before making a decision—there’s got to be a better solution! Anyone else having this issue?
