6900xt bad performance

Hello, recently upgraded from 5700XT to 6900XT and i am really suprised the performance dropped by almost 30%

The games that i am playing mostly Pubg - RUST. With 5700 XT i had around 110 FPS in Pubg and 90 FPS in Rust.

Now in pubg when i enter the city i get like 60 -80 FPS. And 80 FPS in rust.

My set up is  I5 9600K, 16gb DDR4 3200 MHZ ram and Z370P D3 Motherboard.

Can someone help me , i am really really diappointed.

Thank you very much!

I spent yesterday to research the issue. Well, all signs indicates that the issue is CPU and 1080P gaming. Seems like this card is not optimized for 1080P. I should've stick on my 5700XT It was working pretty good with I5 9600k.

Hi, you have a weak processor for such a video card, when I sold my gtx 1080ti to a guy who had an I5 9600K on his PC, he then wrote to me that his fps was lower than mine (I now have an i9 9900k) set a 2k resolution that will partially unload your processor.

Thanks for the reply. I dont think it is the issue. Because i have watched some videos on youtube which has same CPU and GPU. They've got better performance.

Actually i am thinking if my card is defective or not. It is a brand new btw.

Try to reset the settings of the video driver and the shader cache (amd adrenaline), maybe the card does not have enough power, try downloading either a game on directx 12 or vulcan, or some kind of benchmark (bagel or something similar) and set a high resolution and see in monitoring how many watts the video card consumes and frequencies to look. How does she behave in other heavier games like Assassin Creed Valhalla?

i have the same problem with 6700 xt and i see many people with the problema, i think is problem of drivers o graphics card...,

you can try 2k resolution con software amd radeon if you dont have 2k monitor , i get better performance in 2k but i dont get the best perfomance

I dont have 2k monitor. But changed it on 2k at display settings and still bad. 1440p is same as 1080P. But when i change it to 21160P performance is getting much worse. Stays around 80 fps.

Also when i play at 1080P GPU usage is not more than 40%. When i change it to 1440P it is around 75%.

My CPU is 4.5 Ghz btw.

hi @thsn

I have a problem similar to yours with:
Average temperature rx 6900xt in 70c games (2000RPM)

cpu: i9 9900kf Average temperature in 60c games

Motherboard: ASUS TUF Z390 gaming with WIFI

2t ssd NVMe (all games are installed)

480 g ssd (for windows)

16x2 ram 3000mhz cl 16

Windows 11 64 bit

PSU 800w Radeon Software Adrenaline 21.12.1

2k monitor (2560x1440p) 165Hz DP port
After a few checks, I realized that old games do not use all the power of the graphics card, for example, I use only 30% of my graphics card in the left4Dead 2 game.
New generation graphics cards only seem to achieve 90% performance with the DX12 and Vulkan alone.
For example, in cyberpunk 2077 and my graphics card control is used to 99%.
Try to increase the resolution scale in the game.
But you use i5 9600k 100% of your problem is a bottleneck.

When I bought my 6700XT Strix, I made sure and picked up a 144Hz 2560X1440 Monitor, this thing has been great,no problems at all.

My 5700XT Strix at 1080 144HZ is great, but anything Above the 5700XT was for sure gonna need 1440
