6800XT artifacts and glowing orbs

Hello everyone,

I'm writing here because I would like to get some help. I bought a computer with a 6800XT two years ago, and for a few days, I've been experiencing graphical issues.

On Friday, I encountered a strange behavior in iRacing. The interior of my car turned green, as if it was illuminated by a green light (similar to what you might see in a STALKER video, but I didn’t notice it while doing my timed laps). I also saw minor issues in Crusader Kings 3, like white dots, but nothing major. I assumed it was a refresh issue while moving the camera.

Yesterday, I tried Flight Simulator 2024, and I experienced massive black screen flickering. For example, the Earth flickers in the main menu. I recorded the problem here:

I initially thought it was a game issue, as the game has a lot of problems.

Then on Sea of Thieves, I started to suspect that my GPU :

I tested several other games (Ready or Not, SQUAD, STALKER 2) and encountered issues in all of them.

Interestingly, I tested Assetto Corsa Competizione or Animal party and didn't notice any issues there, so I’m not sure what’s wrong.

It seems to happen more frequently when the sky is visible in a game (especially with sun).

I’m not sure if this is related, but a few weeks ago, I noticed a very faint flashing on part of my screen in Windows. It was almost unnoticeable and only visible on very bright pages or software.

I’ve taken several steps to troubleshoot:

  • Cleaned all the dust and opened
  • Used DDU to uninstall the GPU driver and reinstalled an older version (with a factory reset and without Adrenaline) and tried the lastest one
  • Tried a different HDMI cable
  • Disabled various game options (VSync, AA, shaders, particles, etc.) and lowered graphical settings
  • Tested FurMark and MSI Kombustor : no issues (stay at 67-70°C).

Do you think my GPU is dying? Do you have any ideas on what to do? I’ve already looked at many threads and videos but haven’t found a solution.

Thank you
