2 Graphic cards - Steam games not starting anymore

Hello there, I've had a problem for a few weeks now and can't seem to figure it out on my own..

I have a relatively new PC (Windows 11 64bit) with a 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600K processor, with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770. Additionally, I have installed an AMD graphic card (AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT). These cards used to work fine together, but recently I can't start Steam games anymore.. the games freezes on the first screen (usually credits or a warning) and the game fails to shut down at all when I try to force it.

One 'solution' I have found, was to either deactivate the AMD graphics card, or select the Intel card in the Windows settings for the specific games. So apparently, there is an issue with either the AMD graphic card, or the switching between the two cards?

The AMD Software doesn't show any problems with the card, and my PC recognizes it as a device. I have updated all the drivers for the cards, and Windows, and everything else I could update, but the problem still exists.

It would be great, if someone could offer any possible reason or solution for this..

Thank you very much!

Jasmin

Since you say you installed the AMD card I assume it's a desktop PC and not a laptop? In that case, where is your monitor plugged in? Is it the actual AMD card or did you plug it into the motherboard? Because if you plug it into the motherboard it's going to use the integrated graphics and if you plug it into the card itself it'll use the dedicated one. I don't think they should interfere with one another, not on a desktop PC if everything is plugged in correctly.

So, could be you only have the AMD driver while your monitor is plugged into the motherboard and it uses the integrated graphics then?

Wow, okay, you're right, I must have been asleep when I plugged in the monitor after moving... Thank you, that solved it
