It's basically all I need HDCP for. A streaming service inside my browser. I'm using Edge, in software mode, as a specialized second screen video platform for Amazon Video or Twitch. That way it doesn't influence my FPS during gaming, as I have plenty of CPU cycles to spare.
Anyway, Amazon only wants to display HD video, if HDCP is working correctly, and it just doesn't, most of the time.
I have no idea what causes it, but it frequently breaks. Sometimes when I update the Radeon software it'll work for a while. Sometimes when I update the Radeon software, it seems to be what breaks it. Also sometimes it'll work on my main screen, 4K, connected via display port, while it won't on my second screen, 1080p, connected via HDMI.
I can "fix" it, for a while, by going into the software, disabling HDCP, reboot, enabling HDCP, reboot. But it never lasts long.
This has been going on for as long as I had this graphics card, really. About a year now. Never been an issue on my old Geforce.
Specs:
Windows 11, but formerly 10 with the same issue
Radeon RX 6700 XT
Ryzen 5950X, formerly 3900X same issue
Board is Asus TUF 570X
32GB RAM
and browser is Edge, particularly portable in software mode, for that second screen.
I have tried other browser and hardware acceleration, though, with the same results.
It seems to be mostly a second screen issue, but sometimes it also breaks on main.
It's just inconsistent, frustrating, and I have zero clue what the issue might be.
It DOES work with the configuration I specified, and then it just doesn't.
