Hello everyone,
I've an old Radeon HD 5450 and a not so old Radeon RX 580 and I'm trying to setup three monitors.
I'll only use the three monitors when doing desk work, for games I'll use only one of them.
Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8GB (Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 edition 20.2.2-mar5) (1920x1080 @60Hz)
Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 (Catalyst 15.7.1) (1920x1080 @60Hz)
Desktop Windows 10 64bit
MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max. Bios Version E7B79AMS.H40 11/06/2019
Ryzen 5 3600
2x8GB DDR4 Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16
Tacens Radix VII AG 600W 80 Plus Silver
Here's everything I've tried and the outcomes:
- All 3 monitors connected to the RX 580 (HDMIx2, DVI). Works flawlesly. But I'm concerned this may make the RX 580 work harder and since I've the spare HD 5450, I'd like to use it. Am I wrong for thinking that?
- Main monitor connected to the RX 580 (HDMI), the two other connected to the HD 5450 (HDMI, VGA). Here I've a problem with the drivers. These are the two scenarios I've tested:
- Latest Adrenalin software. RX 580 works great, HD 5450 doesn't work at all. Apparently there's no driver installed for it. So I'm stuck to one monitor in this situation. I've tried to find a driver for the HD 5450 in this folder C:\AMD\AMD-Catalyst-15.7.1-Win10-64bit to no avail.
- Catalyst 15.7.1. Both video cards work and I can have all 3 monitors running. The problem is now the RX 580 doesn't have a specific driver installed, so the performance is crap.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
